Smart Communities: Using IoT to Enhance Safety, Compliance, and Resident Wellbeing

Join Sally Ireland, ARCO Director of Legal and Compliance, and the team at Wifinity in this bi-monthly operational forum to gain a practical view of how IoT can replace manual checks, reduce avoidable incidents, support regulatory duties and improve both operational efficiency and the quality of life for residents.

Overview:

Integrated retirement communities must balance safety, compliance and cost while supporting residents’ wellbeing and independence. Vital checks like damp and mould, CO₂ levels, fire safety, occupancy and energy and water use often still need manual routines by frontline teams, increasing risk and cost. Resident issues such as environmental triggers, falls or dementia-related risks can also be monitored, managed and reported by smart technology. This session examines how IoT delivered over a single managed network can automate monitoring, reduce incident rates and enhance resident care.

 Speakers:

  • Jennie Francis, Chief Transformation Officer, Wifinity

  • Sean Davey, Head of Innovation Delivery, St Monica’s Trust

Jennie will explain how a managed network enables reliable sensors and real-time alerts, helping operators detect problems early, maintain compliance and reduce waste. While Sean will focus on practical user cases as an operator, including how connected monitoring supports safer living environments, fewer emergency call-outs, earlier identification of health risks, improved dementia support and more stable, comfortable homes that promote long-term wellbeing.
